Unit 2 Celebration

Wow!!! I can not believe we are halfway through the year already. I feel like there are parts of unit 2 that I just did not do justice to, but I guess we'll pick it up the next time around, right? Tonight we had a wonderful unit celebration and the theme was International night. Each of the kids chose one of the civilizations that we studied this past nine weeks, and gave a speach, showed a project that we made, and brought some food from their country.

Seth started off the evening giving a speech about the Ancient Americas. He made tortillas and declined to wear a costume, claiming that they only wore loin clothes. He wasn't about to wear one of those for the sake of a history project. He showed the beadwork project.

Claire went next and talked about Ancient China. She brought potstickers and showed how we made our own paper.

Kailyn talked about the Minoan and Mycenian civilizations, and showed the frescoes that we made and painted. She served bread in olive oil and grapes.

Cade talked the history of the Israelites after Moses until the time of David. He served mannah (Saltines with honey on them).

Annsley gave her speech on the Hittite civilization and made a loaf of homemade bread. She showed her pendant necklace that she made like the Hittites wore.

The kids did a great job with their speeches and I was very proud of their work!!
