Week 13

History: This week the focus was on explorers and Michelangelo and Raphael. We watched the movie The Agony and Ecstasy about Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel.

Geography:Our map traced the routes of several different explorers.
Notebook pages: We did a book on different explorers and we also added some Michelangelo's work to our notebook.
Dictation: We did Michelangelo quotes for dictation this week.

Week 12

History: The focus this week is an introduction to the Renaissance, looking specifically at some of the early Renaissance artists.







Literature:







Fine Arts:







Church History:







Dictation: We are using quotes by Leonardo da Vinci for dictation.
Geography: Our map this week covered the early explorers.
Projects: We made our own tempera paint out of egg and dirt. Sorry about the photography. My camera was on a weird setting and I didn't know how to get it off. We also made invisible ink and write messages. We tried to make plastic, but it didn't work the way the directions said. All these projects are in the Leonardo Inventions you can Build Yourself book. It is a very fun book.

We made geometric shapes like Leonardo did when he illustrated the Geometry textbook.









Week 11

I am excited to start on the Renaissance. I love the Renaissance artists and I'm looking forward to studying about them again. Annsley made me so happy the other day. She said, "I can't wait until we can go to Rome and see all the art and architecture there!" And, I can't wait to take her some day.
